VIDEO: The greatest factor underpinning successful delivery of consumer directed care is organisational culture, according to David Pearson, president of the Association of Directors of Adult Social Services (ADASS).

ADASS represents 152 directors who purchase or provide over half the care services for the population of England.

Earlier this week Mr Pearson addressed the ACSA National Conference about the UK’s experience of consumer directed care, the challenges organisations had faced and the ways in which issues were overcome.

He said a critical factor was organisational culture, and staff understanding the goals and objectives behind CDC. The provision of good advice and information to enable consumers to make informed choices was also critical, said Mr Pearson, who is also a director for Nottinghamshire County Council, which serves a population of 760,000 people.
