Deadline extended

Aged care providers get an extra week to report financial health

Accountancy and business consultancy group, Bentleys, has announced an extension to the deadline for its annual 2010 Bentleys Aged Care Survey.

Citing a ‘peak in interest’, aged care providers have been given an extra week to submit their phase one data, now due Friday 10 December.

Bentleys director Heath Shonhan said the deadline had been pushed back to allow all returning and new participants time to submit 2009-2010 general purpose financial report information as part of phase one.

“This survey has become the industry’s major benchmarking tool for measuring financial and operational wellbeing and continues to inform key decision makers on elements such as funding absorption and future funding models,” said Mr Shonhan.

“Hundreds of providers in 2009 indicated that care costs now absorb around 93 per cent of funding and Bentleys is particularly interested in investigating whether this figure has remained this high or risen even higher.

“Looking forward, these findings will help to inform the industry and help put in place models for better financial sustainability and ultimately, the delivery of better levels of care,” Mr Shonhan said.

Bentleys will provide a free ‘Balance Sheet Health Check’ to all participants by the end of 2010, comparing their financial health with other providers.

The second phase deadline for profit and loss and other operational data is still Friday 17 December.
