Aged care provider Bolton Clarke has held a topping out ceremony to mark the final stage of building of a new residential aged care facility in Caboolture, Queensland.

Collocated with Bolton Clarke’s Fernhill retirement community, the new seven-storey facility was co-designed with village residents and will feature 162-beds in modern and accessible rooms fitted with the latest technology.

The facility is designed in line with internationally-recognised dementia design principles to enable choice, freedom and way-finding in an indoor and outdoor environment.

The residential aged care community will be fully landscaped with shady outdoor seating and parkland, a retail precinct and underground parking. It will also include open space to encourage residents to be active and community engagement.

Pat McIntosh signing the concrete slab

Bolton Clarke Fernhill retirement village residents attended the ceremony and joined Bolton Clarke’s chairman Pat McIntosh in signing a commemorative concrete slab to mark the milestone.

Bolton Clarke board and team members, local councillors, community representatives and representatives of builders Hansen Yuncken also attended the ceremony.

Mr McIntosh said the day marked a significant milestone at one of the organisation’s most historic sites.

“This year marks 70 years since the first war veterans arrived at Fernhill on 4 May 1950. Over those 70 years Fernhill has grown to meet the needs of the Caboolture community and this next phase in that journey continues to be driven by residents and locals,” Mr McIntosh said.

Stage one is expected to be complete in August this year.
