Lutheran Homes Group has acquired regional aged care homes Sunnyside Lutheran Retirement Village in Horsham and Eventide Lutheran Homes & Hamilton Village in Hamilton – marking an expansion into Victoria for the Adelaide-based provider.

This is the first time LHG has established a presence interstate and adds 134 beds and 184 independent living units to its portfolio, meaning the not-for-profit now has more than 2,000 residents and a workforce of more than 1,300.

The two standalone sites officially joined LHG on 1 June, with chief executive officer Tim Chia saying the acquisition was driven by LHG’s mission to bring high-quality care to more communities and investing where need is greatest, particularly in regional areas where workforce retention is a challenge.

“We’re not just investing in bricks and mortar – we’re investing in people,” he said.

“Staff development, education, and creating supportive, purpose-driven workplaces are at the centre of what we do. We want to be an employer of choice in these communities.”

LHG’s other capital upgrades include refurbishments scheduled for Hope Valley, and masterplan progression for the two-hectare Fullarton redevelopment that will include an aged care facility and expanded retirement living options, both in South Australia.

“LHG has grown significantly in recent years, and this expansion reflects our long-term commitment to delivering exceptional aged care services in both metropolitan and regional communities,” Mr Chia said.

“We are making multi-million-dollar investments in Horsham and Hamilton to upgrade facilities and enhance the environments for both residents and staff.”
