Ozcare unveils two major capital works worth $50 million

Ozcare Clontarf
Ozcare is undertaking a $9 million extension at its Ozanam Villa Clontarf facility

Aged care provider Ozcare has commenced construction on its new $40 million 150-bed aged care facility in Hervey Bay.

The builder for the development, Woollam Constructions, said the new facility would be completed by April 2017.

Ozcare said the facility would contain single rooms with ensuites and private balconies, intimate lounges and dining areas for residents to entertain, and walkways with gardens.

Elsewhere, the provider has also commenced construction on a $9 million three-story extension at its Ozanam Villa Clontarf facility.

Due for completion in November 2016, the new wing will provide a special care unit for people living with dementia and other challenging behaviours, and additional single, ensuite rooms.

The facility would not only provide a new wing with a ground floor special care unit, it would also undergo a timely refurbishment during the construction phase, said CEO Tony Godfrey.

Estia Health has partnered with Living Choice to deliver a new aged care facility at the Living Choice Twin Waters Retirement Village. Estia will own and operate the facility while Living Choice’s construction division will build the 114-bed, two-storey facility.

The $25 million facility is expected to be completed by May 2017.

The new facility would include a community garden, hairdressing salon, library, sensory garden for those living with dementia, activity rooms and consulting rooms for visiting medical professionals.

Twin Waters Retirement Village residents’ committee chair Jenifer Simpson said the addition of residential aged care to the village had been very well received by residents.

Estia Health will also commence construction of a high care facility within the Living Choice Sunshine Cove retirement village in August.

The 180-bed project in Sydney’s north-west will be completed in mid-2017.

The provider has commissioned design company CHADA, which has international experience in the high-end hotel sector.

The facility will include a wellness centre, hairdresser, café and shops, gardens, courtyards and a golf putting green, a gymnasium and movement room, and a media room.

The provider said technology would be integral, with wireless connectivity, sensors, alarm call and fall-prevention systems.

Residents will also be able to catch up with family members who are interstate or overseas via video conferencing, and for those closer to home (or visiting) there will be family rooms for overnight stays.
