Three diverse acquisitions with more planned for large NFP provider
RSL Care + RDNS has added a retirement village and a home care service in NSW plus a mental health team in South Australia, further expanding its portfolio of properties and services.
RSL Care + RDNS has added a retirement village and a home care service in NSW plus a mental health team in South Australia, further expanding its portfolio of properties and services.
The not-for-profit health and retirement living provider announced this month it recently finalised the acquisitions of the Broadwater Gardens Retirement Community in Port Macquarie, Your Choice HomeCare in Sydney’s inner west and the NewAccess mental health team in Adelaide.
RSL Care + RDNS, the merged entity formed in late 2015, supports more than 100,000 community care clients and 5,500 aged care and retirement living residents in Queensland, NSW, Victoria, South Australia, Western Australia and Tasmania.
CEO Stephen Muggleton said their future expansion goal was to serve more customers and grow its geographical footprint.
“Our business roadmap includes expanding our range of services and the locations where they are delivered, and investing in our people to ensure we have a workforce that is engaged, empowered and equipped to deliver consumer-directed care,” Mr Muggleton told AAA.
“We will welcome opportunities to apply customer-led design and technology that makes a practical difference, and to provide innovative services informed by our translational research,” he said.
While the newly acquired organisations delivered a diverse range of services, he said the people was the common denominator that made each a good fit.
And as some organisations were choosing a niche in the services they offered, Mr Muggleton said they saw benefits in going broad during this era of rapid change in the supply and demand of services.
“The merger has provided a multiplier effect with the combined range and depth of services allowing for the creation of a true continuum of services, as well as further innovation.”
He said the organisation would leverage its new size and experience to deliver responsive health and wellbeing services and support more people to exercise personal choice.
New acquisitions
Broadwater Gardens is an over-55s high-quality estate comprising 42 freestanding homes and four riverside apartments.
RSL Care + RDNS began delivering services in late November last year at Your Choice HomeCare, which provides responsive health and wellness support for packaged care clients and those with disabilities receiving assistance through the NDIS.
A couple of weeks later, the provider acquired the 10-member team of NewAccess coaches from UnitingCare Wesley Port Adelaide and began delivering services on 1 December 2016.
The beyondblue developed program provides Low-intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LiCBT) to people with mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety and will be delivered by specifically-trained coaches in collaboration with ReturnToWorkSA, reported RSL Care + RDNS.
