Expo for NSW south coast

The region’s service providers and care recipients will have a chance to see the latest equipment without having to travel to the city.

More than 35 equipment suppliers and support organisations will go on show at Merimbula RSL Club next month for the biggest ever disability expo on the NSW south coast.

The IDEAS Expo is being held to give the region’s service providers and care recipients an opportunity to see the latest equipment.

The free event is being run by IDEAS (Information on Disability & Education Awareness Services).

The group’s chairperson, Bob Gilholme said the expo would enable people on the state’s south coast to investigate up to date options without having to travel to a major, metropolitan centre.

“It is part of our service as an information provider,” said Bob Gilholme.

“We pride ourselves on hosting an event for people with disability living in rural areas as all people with disability should be able to gain this information where they live, rather than having to travel to the major cities to access it.”

The launch of the expo will coincide with the international day for people with a disability (3 December). The theme of the event is ‘Access for all’.

A series of workshops run by leading peak advocacy organisations will be run alongside the expo.

The event will be held from 3-4 December at Merimbula RSL club. For more information, call Diana Palmer 02 6947 3377.
