Extension adds a point of difference

NSW provider Hawkesbury Living is describing the new wing on its aged care facility as a point of difference.
Recently opened by state Opposition Leader, Barry O’Farrell, the 12-bed high care extension has been purposefully designed to have a homely look and feel.
This new wing is the second stage of a master plan to expand the facility’s size and service variety.
“The new wing reflects our vision of a facility that offers a comfortable and enjoyable lifestyle,” said Hawkesbury Living CEO, Kimberly Talbot.
“Our residents feel at home and love the bright and modern feel.”
The design includes a number of features aimed at increasing operational efficiencies, such as extra space within the bedrooms to accommodate lifting equipment and additional space in the dining area to accommodate mobility aids.
Resident’s ensuites also enable easy access for staff to assist residents with high care needs.
The extension was designed by Paynter Dixon and the group’s marketing manager, Maria Passafarro said the intention was to meet resident’s needs.
“We designed the new extension of Hawkesbury Living to create a less institutional look and feel for the residents,” she said.
“The domestic-style layout gives the facility a more homely feel which is further enhanced by the vibrant colours that we used to furnish the rooms.
“We made as much use of natural light as possible, installing several sky lights throughout the wing.”
