Feedback sought on workforce planning tool

Aged care stakeholders are invited to inform the further development of the ACWIC’s Workforce Planning Tool.

The Aged Care Workforce Industry Council is calling on aged care stakeholders to inform the further development of its online application that helps organisations assess and plan their workforce needs.

The free Workforce Planning Tool supports residential and home aged care providers to establish a baseline understanding of their workforce and lay a foundation for a sustainable workforce plan. It was designed with and for Australia’s aged care providers and launched in June 2022.

The tool has been accessed by more than 3,500 people since its release and the ACWIC is now seeking feedback to ensure it continues to meet the needs of the sector, said Sarah McLelland – ACWIC interim chief executive officer.

“The workforce planning tool enables Australian aged care providers to understand more about creating a strategic workforce plan so that they can effectively build their staffing models to provide holistic, human-centered and quality care,” Ms McLelland said.

“Our evaluation survey offers the aged care sector an opportunity to provide feedback about the tool to inform its further development.”

The three-minute survey – which closes on 5 May – aims to understand:

  • what the sector has to say about the tool
  • how people are using the tool
  • what features or improvements users would like to see.

All people involved in aged care workforce planning including users of the tool and those with an interest in the topic are invited to respond.

“We’re keen to make the tool as valuable as it can be for aged care providers and that’s why we’re seeking further input as we work to improve the features and functionality of the tool, to support aged care providers to build a sustainable workforce,” Ms McLelland said.

“Workforce planning is critical to ensure that older people continue to receive a high standard of care, and that the wellbeing of aged care workers remains a priority.”
