Global transformation firm FTI Consulting has set up a healthcare and human services industry practice in Australia with aged care among its target areas.

The team – known as FTI Consulting Health – includes eight managing directors and will support public and private organisations with system reform, sustainability, digitisation and productivity.

Nathan Schlesinger – who has 25 years of experience advising health and aged care clients in Australia, the United States and Southeast Asia – has been appointed senior managing director and practice leader.

Also appointed senior managing director is Nicki Doyle – who has 16 years of experience supporting aged care clients to navigate aged care policy, reform, regulation and changes to the market at KPMG, where she was partner of health, ageing and human services until earlier this month.

She said the team was ready to assist aged care stakeholders through this complex time it was experiencing due to the current reform agenda.

“With a significant reform agenda across programs, regulation and funding it is critical that the sector focuses on leveraging the reform to transform their organisations,” Ms Doyle told Australian Ageing Agenda.

“With aged care being one of FTI Consulting Health’s key areas of focus, it is well placed to support government, providers and other entities that operate within the sector with our unique blend of Big Four, industry and executive experience, and deep capability across areas including strategy, policy, operational performance, digital transformation, workforce optimisation, governance and risk.”

The team’s other managing directors are Trina Adams, Alicia Boyd, Somer Dawson, Laura Day, Charlotte Gordon and Taahir Kerbelker.

Mr Schlesinger – who was the Australian Health Industry Leader and Global Health Services Leader for PwC until joining FTI Consulting in November – said he was excited to build a team dedicated to driving meaningful improvements in healthcare and human services.

“We are at a pivotal moment in the care sector, where the sustainability of the system is under significant strain, yet we also have unprecedented opportunities through advancements in technology and treatment. As we face these challenges, it is essential to have the right strategies, the right capabilities and the right mindset in place.”
