Governance training facilitators

Qualified facilitators to deliver the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency’s resource on governance to senior manangement and boards are now available around the country

A number of qualified facilitators are now available across Australia to deliver an education resource on governance to senior management and board members of aged care facilities.

The revamped version of The Aged Care and Accreditation Agency’s  Governance and Accreditation Toolbox, which was released a couple of months ago, can either be self-delivered or completed with the assistance of an independent facilitator.

To cater for this latter case, the agency has developed a scheme of accredited professionals to deliver the workshops.

CEO of the accreditation agency Mark Brandon said: “Our facilitators are highly regarded professionals with years of experience working with aged care boards.”

“With a wealth of knowledge and experience, they will provide valuable insights into the world of aged care governance for boards and management,” he said.

The revised version was based on feedback from facilities that used the original resource and is now arranged into four modules.

The modules cover governance principles and practices, accreditation standards and the accreditation process, quality management and continuous improvement, and performance management.

The resource aims to give senior management and board members confidence in making governance decisions that improve performance and promote quality care.

“Quality starts with leadership, and leadership starts at the top,” Mr Brandon said.

There are currently 10 facilitators available in four states, according to the agency’s website, and feature well-known people in the industry including, consultant Michael Goldsworthy, lawyer Brian Herd , consultant Lorraine Poulos and LASA Queensland CEO Nick Ryan.

Profiles and contact details of all the facilitators are available on agency’s website.

The Toolbox, which contains a facilitator’s guide, five participants’ guides, a CD with PowerPoint presentations, forms and reporting templates, costs $400.

Additional participants’ guides are available for $100 each.
