AUDIO: A crisis is looming in home support provision if case management is not funded beyond July, Adjunct Professor Michael Fine has told a gathering of case managers.

Professor Fine, from Macquarie University’s sociology department, was speaking at Future Directions, a two-day forum on case management in a consumer-directed environment hosted by Community Options Australia in Newcastle last week.

While case management features in the current Home and Community Care (HACC) program, Professor Fine said that with no proposal to fund it beyond July 2015 when the new Commonwealth Home Support Program launched, clients and the sector would suffer.

After his presentation, Professor Fine spoke with AAA’s Natasha Egan about the potential crisis and how it could be avoided:
