Iemma rumour denied but Watkins will join Alzheimer’s Australia

A not-for-profit aged care provider has denied reports that former NSW Premier, Morris Iemma will join its board.

Catholic Healthcare has denied reports that former NSW Premier, Morris Iemma will be joining its board.

A News Limited article at the weekend reported that the not-for-profit organisation had approached Mr Iemma following his resignation from politics two weeks ago.

According to the Daily Telegraph, the board position carried a $39,000 annual salary and included an advisory role.

But a spokesperson for the organisation said Mr Iemma would not be joining the board.

“That was an incorrect report,” she said.

However reports that the state’s former Deputy Premier, John Watkins would take up a role with Alzheimer’s Australia NSW have been confirmed.

A spokesperson for Alzheimer’s Australia said Mr Watkins would commence as CEO on Monday, 20 October.

Mr Watkins quit politics on 3 September and Mr Iemma lost the premiership in the ensuing cabinet re-shuffle two days later.
