Reuben Jacob is now chief executive officer and company secretary of Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia.

Reuben Jacob has transitioned from interim chief executive officer at Aged Care Research and Industry Innovation Australia to CEO and company secretary, the research translation centre has announced.

He had been interim CEO and chief operating officer at ARIIA for the past 18 months. Prior to ARIIA, Mr Jacob was manager of strategic projects and innovation at scientific and ethical review organisation Bellberry, and commercialisation facilitator at the Australian Government’s Accelerating Commercialisation Program.

ARIIA chair Kylie Walker said Mr Jacob was chosen after successfully fulfilling the interm CEO and COO roles over the previous one-and-a-half years.

“Reuben is an outstanding choice and brings a wealth of experience in research, business and strategy,” Ms Walker said. “This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for ARIIA and the board is looking forward to working with Reuben and the team to ensure that ARIIA continues to deliver on its remit to make a profound impact on the positive aging and aged care landscape in Australia.”

Mr Jacob said he was thrilled to be taking on the role. “ARIIA holds a special place as the hub for fostering the adoption of knowledge, evidence, innovation and technology, and we also provide practical support for implementing findings, leading to meaningful advancements in aged care and positive ageing.”

With so many aged care reforms taking place, the work of ARIIA is critical, said Mr Jacob. He added he was excited that ARIIA was at the forefront of facilitating change.

“We have a once-in-a-generation opportunity to make the aged care sector sustainable and strong, by proactively improving workforce capability through evidence-based training and catalysing important creation and application of knowledge through research, development and innovation.”
