Minnamurra aged care facility officially opened

NSW Governor, Marie Bashir has officially opened Presbyterian Aged Care’s new $14.3 million Minnamurra aged care facility in Drummoyne.

NSW Governor, Marie Bashir, joined Presbyterian Church of NSW Moderator, Rt Rev Chris Balzer to open Presbyterian Aged Care’s (PAC) new $14.3 million Minnamurra aged care facility in Drummoyne, NSW yesterday.

Minnamurra is a 65 bed, ageing in place facility which also offers a 13 bed secure dementia unit and three respite beds. The project is part of a $39 million investment in building upgrades and development across Presbyterian Aged Care NSW & ACT from 2005 to mid 2009.

“Minnamurra is a beautifully designed and appointed building,” said Paul Sadler, PAC NSW and ACT Chief Executive Officer. “Each resident enjoys rooms with private facilities, shared communal areas, courtyards, gardens, balconies with water views and lifestyle programs that ensure residents’ wellbeing, safety and security in a caring environment.

“The next exciting phase is growth of our community programs and independent living accommodation,” he said.

Work has also begun on PAC’s plans to develop a new 104-bed residential aged care facility, 87 seniors independent living units and 4 apartments at Paddington in Sydney’s eastern suburbs. The new development will restore the Scottish Hospital building, create parklands and PAC is also investigating additional community service options such as a child care facility.

These and other programs will see PAC invest over $120 million in building upgrades and new developments in the next five years.
