Assistant Minister for Social Services Mitch Fifield has announced this morning the 13 organisations that have successfully tendered to operate the My Aged Care Regional Assessment Services (RAS) from 1 July.
The RAS will be responsible for conducting face-to-face assessments of older people needing entry-level support through the Commonwealth Home Support Program.
Selected from an open tender process, the organisations will provide independent assessment across the 52 planning regions in all states and territories, except Victoria and Western Australia – where current state government models will continue.
Senator Fifield said that a number of specialist services and community organisations had formed consortia to offer a tailored capability to support indigenous populations, culturally and linguistically diverse populations and people with dementia.
Among the successful organisations are NSW Health, aged care providers Feros Care, Blue Care, Resthaven (SA), and Silver Chain through its division Access Care Network Australia, as well as assessment and home care broker Care Assessment Consultants (Tas).
Servicing the NT is the Australian Regional and Remote Community Services (ARRCS), a UnitingCare Qld service group.
Ten of the 13 organisations are current providers of services under Commonwealth HACC Service Group 2, and the vast majority of regions will have between two and four services operating.
The RAS will complement the existing Aged Care Assessment Teams (ACATs) from 1 July, but they are likely to be combined in the future.
