New job board targets hard-to-reach aged care candidates

The publisher of Australian Ageing Agenda has launched a new, interactive job board that aims to cut through to ‘passive’ premium candidates. And for November and December, all job listings are free!

Attracting and retaining a skilled and dedicated workforce is often cited as the single biggest challenge facing the aged and community care sector. Getting directly to the right people – the people you know you’d like to have on your team – isn’t easy either.  Especially as your ‘dream candidate’ may not even be looking for a job.

With this in mind, The Intermedia Group, which publishes Australian Ageing Agenda, as well as a range of other industry-specific magazines and websites, has launched a new, independent job board service called jobla.  And as a special introductory offer, for the months of November and December, jobla is offering unlimited free job advertising

Jobla’s general manager, recruitment services, Paul Humberstone, said the concept behind The Intermedia Group’s jobla service is to enable job advertisers to reach highly skilled, ‘passive talent’.

“’Passive talent’ means those people who aren’t actively looking for work but who would be open to the right opportunity, should it arise. While jobla is hosted separately to Australian Ageing Agenda – and is separate to all Intermedia’s media services – it is directly linked to the AAA website’s homepage and its twice weekly e-newsletter.

“The AAA home page and e-newsletter now have a ‘featured jobs’ panel and a ‘search widget’ for jobla at the bottom of the page.  The featured jobs panel displays a changing list of the most recently listed jobs.  You can hover your mouse over the ‘more info’ tab for any of the jobs and it will give you a summary of some key points. Or you can click through and see the full advertisement and all the details you require,” said Mr Humberstone.

Humberstone said the site worked several ways for both employers and jobseekers.

“Even if someone looking at a featured job doesn’t want to click through to that one, they might decide to use the search widget to just see what else might be there. They can have a look at all the jobs within their field of expertise, they can customise job alerts and RSS feeds, bookmark particular organisations or advertisers that they’d like to keep track of, record information or actions against jobs, invite people into their network and access a range of other tools and information services,” said Mr Humberstone.

For job advertisers, he says, the process is simple, highly functional and allows for independent control of the process.

“Whether they are direct employers or recruitment agencies, jobla enables advertisers to create, edit and view ‘live’, pending and archived job ads. They can securely communicate with job seekers, quickly access all of their received applications, bookmark job seekers they’d like to keep track of, network with job seekers and others and easily review all their vital advertising statistics,” he said.

The new job board, which operates across all the industries and sectors represented by The Intermedia Group’s media portfolio, was launched in September.  Humberstone says it was important to take a staged approach in building the service.

“We began in September to gradually build a network that can service crucial niche market segments in many of Australia’s most important industries: aged care, health and community care; local, state and federal government; energy and resources; film, TV and new media; consumer electronics; hospitality; retail; transport and logistics; and several others.”

Since the launch, Humberstone says, jobla has hosted over 13,000 live jobs linked into 14 different Intermedia Group media websites and has attracted over 6,500 unique visits.

To give advertisers and job seekers the chance to see jobla in action, The Intermedia Group has made all listed job advertisements free for the months of November and December. Advertisers who wish to increase their exposure to industry professionals or drive a recruitment campaign can also purchase a range of onsite and email banner advertisements.

“The Intermedia Group’s websites together are viewed by over 200,000 unique visitors each month and our industry e-newsletters are read by a collective monthly audience of over 1.25 million,” says Humberstone. “Australian Ageing Agenda’s news website averages over 15,000 online visits each month, in addition to the five thousand e-newsletters received by subscribers twice a week.”

Australian Ageing Agenda’s e-newsletter now includes a list of the latest three jobs posted on jobla for the health, aged and community care industry. The regular price for a single ad listing, running for 30 days, is $140 + gst.  To find out more, visit www.jobla.com.au  To see all AAA listed jobs, click here.
