Nursing scholarships

A new national program is offering financial assistance for professional development for eligible nurses, midwives, assistants in nursing and care workers.

If you think further education and training will benefit your nursing skills then a professional development scholarship announced today could help you pay for it.

Eligible nurses, midwives, assistants in nursing and personal care workers can apply for financial assistance to go towards attending conferences, short courses or online training programs.

The 2013 ME Bank Agency Nurses Scholarship was announced jointly by the Australian Nursing Federation (ANF), ME Bank and the Association of Nursing Recruitment Agencies (ANRA).

The program is open to nurses, midwives, assistants in nursing and personal care workers who work with ANRA member agencies.

ANF Federal Secretary, Lee Thomas, said the ANF was delighted with the ongoing support of ME Bank and ANRA in assisting health workers to continue their professional education through this national scholarship program.

“These scholarships will provide nursing, midwifery and care workers with the opportunity to develop best practice clinical skills which will result in safe patient care across the various health settings in which they work,” Ms Thomas said.

Applicants need to describe how the education and training will benefit their professional skills. Plus how the knowledge they learn will be transferred to advance their clinical practice.

The scholarship is open to all nurses, midwives, assistants in nursing and personal care workers working with ANRA member agencies for more than 12 months.

Applications open tomorrow, March 1, and close June 30, 2013.

Further information and application forms will be available online at www.rcsa.com.au from 1 March 2013 or through ANRA member agencies.
