System entry, obligations and conditions on registered providers – including reporting, record keeping topics and 24/7 registered nurses, funding for accommodation payments for multi-purpose services and mainstream residential care, and information management – including retention of records by former registered providers – are all open for consultation until 11 April.

This marks stage 4a of the consultation stage on the rules and includes topics in chapters 2, 3, 4 and 7 of the new Aged Care Act.

This consultation phase will focus on:

  • how places are allocated to providers under certain specialist aged care programs
  • reporting, record keeping and having a registered nurse on-site 24/7
  • how accommodation payments work
  • managing information, including rules for former providers.

So far, the department has published:

  • stage 1 – aged care service list
  • stage 2a – funding for Support at Home
  • stage 2b – other funding, not including accommodation payments or grantee code of conduct
  • stage 2c – grantee code of conduct, register of banning order, non-recovery or recoverable amounts
  • stage 3 – some provider obligations

Feedback is open until 11 April and can be done via an online form.
