Free ACFI advice

KPMG’s new ACFI website and hotline are now up and running. Click here for details.

Business consultancy firm KPMG has set up a free Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) advisory service.

The Department of Health and Ageing recently appointed the company to deal with requests for assistance from Austrlaia’s 2870 nursing homes as they make the transition to new funding arrangements.

This new service will be in addition to the new ACFI Reference Group, which was set up by the previous government.

The Commonwealth Government has reiterated its commitment to review the ACFI in 18 months.

Access Economics will independently analyse the first 20,000 ACFI claims received to check if it is performing as predicted.

Results of this analysis will be available in July.

The Minister for Ageing, Justine Elliot reiterated the Australian Government’s commitment to the long-term viability of Australia’s aged care sector and the protection of the nation’s frail and elderly.

“We want to ensure that older Australians can live independent lives and age in their own homes, but also have the option to enter aged care homes if they need to,” Mrs Elliot said.

Requests for ACFI assistance can be made through a dedicated website or telephone hotline – 1800 633 719.

The service has been funded to provide up to $3 million in business advice.
