Applications for the Commonwealth Government’s zero real interest loans must be in by Friday, 6 June.
The Government has pledged $300 million in two stages to assist with the provision of 2500 residential care places to areas of high need.
Half of the places will be delivered in this first stage, which will be followed by a review to determine the remaining 1250 places.
Mrs Elliot said the scheme was about preparing Australia for the challenges of that come with an ageing population.
A statement from the department said: “The scheme will suit providers with a sound financial base who have proven experience in residential aged care – and a sound record of developing new services in a timely way.”
Applicants must also demonstrate that they have access to a suitable site for the facility.
Successful applicants will be announced in early August.
