The Independent Health and Aged Care Pricing Authority has released a consultation paper on the pricing framework for residential aged care.
Stakeholders are invited to provide input on the policy, principles and methodology that will support the development of the body’s costing and pricing advice for 2024-25.
An autonomous government agency, IHACPA was established to provide the government with “impartial, timely and transparent advice” on the efficient price for health and residential aged care services based on the best available data and stakeholder consultation.
Formerly the Independent Hospital Pricing Authority, the new body has been expanded to include the provision of advice on aged care pricing and costing matters and the performance of certain functions conferred by the Aged Care Act.
The key matters up for consultation include:
- residential aged care pricing principles
- Australian National Aged Care Classification funding
- indexation methodologies
- adjustments to recommended price
- future pricing adjustments for safety and quality
- priorities for current and future developments and areas of work.
The feedback gathered will inform the policy decisions in the pricing framework, which will outline IHACPA’s approach to developing residential aged care and residential respite services pricing advice for the federal government.
To ensure submissions represent the diversity of the aged care sector, IHACPA welcomes feedback that reflects a wide range of organisations, roles, backgrounds and perspectives.
Submissions can be made online, via email to submissions.ihacpa@ihacpa.gov.au, through the completion of a downloadable form, or posted to IHACPA, PO Box 483, Darlinghurst, NSW 1300.
Public consultation closes 5pm AEST Thursday 31 August.
Unless respondents request privacy, all submissions – minus personal details – will be published on IHACPA’s website after the consultation closing date.
If assistance is required, stakeholders can call (02) 8215 1100.
