AUDIO: Despite the policy shift towards supporting more older people to live in the community, the vast majority of housing is not suitable for ageing in place, Amelia Starr, executive director of Liveable Housing Australia told the NEWSROOM at the ACSA National Conference in Adelaide today.

Ms Starr said that Australia currently does not have the mindset of “lifespan design” that is quite common in other countries. However, efforts are underway to encourage the incorporation of universal design in residential accommodation construction, she said.
