Castle Hill-based flooring specialist Tarkett Australia has won the Westpac Sustainable Business Award for Sydney’s northwest.
The green awards were developed this year to recognise the efforts of the region’s businesses that are committed to sustainable practice.
Colin Bray who is responsible for environmental initiatives at Tarkett Australia said the company was proud to be recognised by Westpac, given the Bank’s strong environmental standing.
“This was a great opportunity for us to share what we do on a global basis at a local level with similarly interested business people, and showcase over fifty years of work on environmental initiatives,” he said.
The company’s key environmental initiatives include:
– the elimination of any hazardous substances;
– the use of low-emission floorings;
– the development of specific flooring surfaces to reduce the use of fresh water and detergents; and
– innovative developments with new polymers.
Tarkett is the largest producer of resilient flooring worldwide.
