Training for training

A series of forums will be held in all the capital cities to help community services organisations familiarise themselves with the new industry training package.

The Community Services & Health Industry Skills Council (CSHISC) will be running a series of one day forums to assist with the implementation of the new Community Services Training Package (CHC08).

The forums will be held in all capital cities throughout February and March, and will feature keynote speakers from a range of sectors within the community services industry.

The new training package was officially endorsed on 12 December last year and community service providers and trainers now have just over 11 months to convert to it.

Presentations will outline the major changes incorporated in the new package and will help participants understand the new skill sets developed by industry to promote lateral movement and multi-skilling.

The forums will also include focused workshops on specific areas such as chronic disease and self-management and community coordination.

The forums will provide community services employers with important advice about how to structure professional development activities, broaden career pathways and improve staff retention.

They will also contain important information for registered training organisations, policy makers, unions and peak body representatives.
