TriCare celebrates new home

Aged care and retirement living provider TriCare has officially launched its first Victorian facility – a 126-bed “upmarket aged care” home in Williams Landing in southwest Melbourne.

The four-storey facility, which began construction in July 2021, caters to the needs of singles and couples with 35 square metre rooms that come with floor-to-ceiling windows, a kitchenette, and views of neighbouring parklands and the Melbourne skyline.

Residents have access to a range of lifestyle activities, a dedicated chef to prepare meals and 24/7 person-centred clinical and social care.

TriCare director Peter O’Shea and Wyndham City Council mayor Susan McIntyre opened TriCare Williams Landing Aged Care Residence at an in-house event with staff, residents, company representatives and local dignitaries last Thursday.

Mr O’Shea said Williams Landing represented a special moment for TriCare. “We’re pleased to introduce this upmarket aged care model that has been so successful in Queensland, to Victoria,” Mr O’Shea said.

TriCare Williams Landing facility manager Nithin Shetty said the home offered wonderful amenities that allowed residents to have fun and connect.

“These include an on-site wine bar and a movie theatre, where residents enjoy new releases, classics, and everything in between. When it’s time to be seen at your best, the hairdressing salon will have your beauty and grooming needs covered,” he said.

Peter and Margaret Hodgkinson are among residents who have already moved in. “I looked after Margaret at home until I couldn’t possibly cope anymore. She’s happy here and some of our friends have even said: ‘Well if I’d booked my holidays here, I wouldn’t be disappointed’,” Mr Hodgkinson said.
