Webinar to outline funding process for nurse pay rise
The department will host a webinar next week that details how funding for the new award wage increases for nurses in aged care will be implemented.

The Department of Health and Aged Care has announced a webinar on 18 February will inform providers about how funding for the award wage increase for nurses in aged care will be delivered.
The news comes a week after the Fair Work Commission reiterated the upcoming wage changes and providers voiced concerns about the lack of information on how funding for the wage increases would be delivered.
The webinar will include information about:
- Australian National Aged Care Classification pricing
- Home Care Packages and Commonwealth Home Support Program pricing
- historical leave liabilities
- accountability and guidance for providers
The webinar will take place from 2:00pm to 2:45pm (AEDT) and features presentations from Mark Richardson, assistant secretary Residential Care Funding Reform Branch, Rachel Blackwood, assistant secretary Home Support Operations Branch, Karen Hall, director Aged Care Wages Section and Chris Crisafi, director Workplace Relations Policy, Fair Work Commission. Stephanie Kaiser, assistant secretary Aged Care Workforce Branch will chair the webinar.
The award wage increase comes into effect on the first full pay period starting on or after 1 March, delayed from 1 January and further increases will be introduced from the first full pay period starting on or after 1 October 2025 and 1 August 2026.
Leave liability grants are also available to supplement the award increases to leave entitlements for aged care workers affected by the FWC’s stage 3 decision.
Registration for the webinar can be done here.
