Help to meet new food standards
Providers have the chance to work with dietitians to help meet food quality standards.

Expressions of interest for providers wanting to participate in the third round of the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission’s Menu and Mealtime Review Program are open until 9 June.
The program, is available for up to 500 residential aged care services for the next financial year, with participation prioritised for:
- aged care services in small rural towns, remote communities and very remote communities
- residential services under the National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Flexible Aged Care Program
- small providers that have 1-2 services and medium providers that have 3-10 services
- smaller services (with 60 or fewer residents)
- services with a score lower than 3 on the Residents’ Experience Survey question ‘Do you like the food here?’
Participating homes will receive free and confidential expert assessment and customised feedback and recommendations from accredited practicing dietitians – who provide the on-site menu and mealtime review.
The review includes:
- introductory meetings with management staff
- an evaluation of the menu
- an assessment of the dining environment and mealtime experience including how well it supports residents to eat and drink safely and happily
- a review of documents describing delivery of food, nutrition and dining
- a written report and feedback meeting to support continuous improvement.
Participation aims to help providers prepare for the incoming Standard 6: Food and Nutrition quality standard.
