IRT, a provider of seniors living and aged care services across New South Wales and the ACT, has just won a swag of Australian Business Awards for the third year running.

IRT took out three honours in the 2012 awards, in the categories of Enterprise, Environmental Sustainability and Recommended Employer.

The organisation’s chief executive, Nieves Murray, said the awards reflected the substantial investment the organisation had made in research and policy, staff training, workforce development and sustainable business practices over the last 12 months and beyond.

“We have been confronted by major policy and market challenges across our operations over the last three years which has seen our customer base nearly double in size,” Ms Murray said.

“Yet our board, our staff and our communities have clearly demonstrated not only an outstanding response to operational improvements, but an energetic enthusiasm to meet the demands placed on all businesses today, including environmental outcomes.

“We are a community not for profit organisation enabling seniors to achieve their optimum quality of life. To be recognised again on a national platform is truly satisfying outcome for all of us here at IRT.”

Australian Business Awards program director, Tara Johnston, said: “These types of accolades don’t come easily – they are underpinned by vision and leadership, both of which require a clear dedication to research and development.

“There was unparalleled breadth and depth in this year’s entries, highlighting the economic stability of Australia and stamping it as the ‘clever country’ for progressive projects, investment, enterprise ventures and workplace practices,” Ms Johnston said.

“Across the private, public and not-for-profit sectors, the 2012 winners of the Australian Business Awards are innovative, agile and truly ‘best in class’.”
