Ageing in place…and luxury

A new over-55s development in Wollongong sets a high standard with its aim to rival five star resorts.

Horizon Living has completed construction on Wollongong’s largest luxury apartment project for over-55s.

The $85 million Links Seaside ageing-in-place development will feature 157 independent and assisted living apartments, a 23-bed inpatient facility and 119 low, high and dementia-specific aged care places.

It is located on a two hectare, beachfront property adjacent to the Wollongong Golf Course.

“The facility was created to rival any five star resort,” said Horizon Living’s General Manager, Paul Myjavec.

Residents will have access to room service, a la carte dining in the restaurant, a café and a kiosk for more casual dining.

The site also boasts a modern aquatic centre with a hydrotherapy pool, a sauna and a spa.

“We also have a day spa and beauty salon, an extensive gymnasium, private cinema, library, specialised rooms for billiards and cards amongst other options for daily entertainment,” said Mr Myjavec.

‘For residents still working, we have meeting rooms, a board room, and first class computer facilities.”

Last year, Horizon Living signed an agreement with the University of Wollongong which will see the university’s top researchers working with residents to share the latest in scientific strategies, preventative healthcare and lifestyle choices to promote longevity.
