Benetas receives EOWA citation.

Benetas, aged care providers in Victoria, has been awarded a citation by the Federal Government’s Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Agency as a 2008 Employer of Choice for Women.

The not-for-profit organisation earned the citation for their workplace policies and practices that support and encourage women in their organisation and create improved outcomes for them, particularly in the areas of attracting, promoting and retaining female staff.

With most of their workforce female, Benetas has implemented a range of  policies to support women, including family friendly practices and maternity leave/return-to-work provisions, as well as staff development and training opportunities.

Congratulating Benetas on receiving the EOWA citation for the third year running, the Director of the Federal Government’s Employer for Women in the Workplace Agency, Ms Anna McPhee, praised the aged care providers efforts.   “All organisations should use the Employer of Choice for Women criteria to benchmark their own policies and workplace environment. If every organisation could meet this minimum standard we would be going a long way towards creating true equity in the Australian labour force.”
