Bethanie acquires two facilities
West Australian aged care and retirement living provider Bethanie has entered into a conditional agreement to acquire the two aged care facilities of Perth aged care provider Berrington.
West Australian aged care and retirement living provider Bethanie has entered into a conditional agreement to acquire the two aged care facilities of Perth aged care provider Berrington.
If all conditions are met, Bethanie will add the aged care homes Berrington Subiaco and Berrington Como to its portfolio.
KPMG partner Hayden White, who was appointed administrator of Berrington’s business operations in July 2019, said securing the sale of the Berrington facilities to Bethanie was the best possible outcome for all stakeholders.
“It provides certainty to the residents, which means they can continue to enjoy the high-quality care that they are used to and provides ongoing employment for the Berrington staff,” Mr White said.
Bethanie CEO Chris How said the acquisition offered a wonderful opportunity to care for more West Australian seniors.
“The opportunity comes at the right time for Bethanie and is consistent with our strategy to expand our business within Western Australia. We look forward to integrating Berrington’s Subiaco and Como Aged Care facilities into the Bethanie Group and welcoming residents, their families and employees to the Bethanie family,” Mr How said.
“Quality of care, health and wellbeing are paramount to Bethanie. This is our single most important concern for Berrington residents and employees,” Mr How said.
Staff at Bethanie will meet with Berrington residents, families and employees to discuss the proposed acquisition and address any questions.
Bethanie expects to take over the operations of the two facilities in early 2020.
