Building begins on RAAFA retirement village
Completion of the WA site slated for June 2025.
Construction on the Royal Australian Air Force Association’s new retirement living village in Western Australia began last week.
The occasion – held at the site in Bull Creek, Perth – was formally recognised with a breaking ground ceremony attended by RAAFA executives, including chief executive officer Michelle Fyfe.
“RAAFA’s Air Force Memorial Estate blends the best of both worlds, offering residents access to tranquil, natural surrounds within the convenience of a well-connected community,” said Ms Fyfe. “We are delighted to be expanding our connected, amenity-filled and thriving community, which we know suits the needs of Perth’s growing retired resident population.”
Construction of the Stirling estate – named after a British bomber used during World War II – is the latest stage of RAAFA’s Air Force Memorial Estate redevelopment and replaces the former Sivyer, Fraser and Ingram buildings.
The Memorial Estate currently houses over 400 independent living residents and features two care centres, a gym and indoor pool, tennis courts and the RAAFA Club.
The Stirling development will consist of contemporary, purpose-designed apartments over six floors. Local firm Georgiou has been appointed the build’s head contractor.
Also at the breaking ground ceremony, Georgiou group general manager Steve Okill. “Since our initial engagement it was clear to us that close collaboration with RAAFA and its trusted consultants would be required to ensure our efforts aligned with their vision,” said Mr Okill. “We’re excited to continue this journey together and further strengthening our relationship as we bring the project to life.”
With construction now underway, completion of the Stirling retirement living development is expected by June 2025.
