New South Wales aged care provider Catholic Healthcare has received approval to redevelop its aged care facility in Lewisham in Sydney’s inner west.
The redevelopment include a new senior’s living village with 117 independent living units and 144 residential aged care places.
It also includes a chapel, café, health and wellness hub, indoor pool and gym, hair salon, cinema, games rooms and activity and lifestyle spaces.
Catholic Healthcare general manager of property Michael Lockwood said the development would provide integrated person-centred aged care services for people in the area.
“Catholic Healthcare is committed and focused on creating much needed additional services in Lewisham for a growing ageing population.
“We are passionate about delivering the highest quality care and enriching the lives of our senior community in the Inner West of Sydney,” Mr Lockwood said.
Construction is expected to commence in 2022.
McQuoin Park village opens doors
Meanwhile Catholic Healthcare has opened the doors to its McQuoin Park retirement village in Wahroonga on Sydney’s upper north shore.
Stage one of the retirement village includes 88 apartments, as previously reported by Australian Ageing Agenda.
The one, two and three-bedroom apartments offer spacious open-plan living and entertaining.
The village features shared amenities for residents, their families and the community including a community centre, café, chapel, games room, library, cinema and wellness hub with a fully-equipped gym and indoor pool.
Maryanne and Anthony are among new residents who have moved into the retirement village.
“We have been planning our move to retirement living for a while so we are so excited to settle into our new apartment, enjoy the wonderful facilities and start making new friends.
“We have a three-bedroom apartment so there is a lot of space to entertain and have the family come and stay,” Maryanne said.
