Co-located clusters for ageing in place
A Sydney provider has opened its latest facility, aimed at helping older people to remain in their own community.

Anglican Retirement Villages (ARV) has officially opened a 119-room aged care facility on Sydney’s northern beaches.
Set within the Warriewood Brook retirement community, Marcus Loane House will cater to residents with low level care needs and people with dementia.
The facility is divided into seven household clusters of 17 rooms which each have their own living spaces, outdoor areas, dining rooms and resident kitchens and laundries.
ARV CEO, Rob Freeman said the new facility fits into the organisation’s model for ageing in place model.
“We encourage residents to live on site in our independent living units for as long as possible, and provide any assistance they need,” he said.
“When the time comes for extra care, a private room in a low care facility is situated within their village community.”
“This keeps family and friends close, and enables our staff to build valuable relationships with the residents and ensures familiarity with their surrounds.”
The facility’s first 16 residents moved in this month and facility manager, Geraldine Tattersall said they are adjusting well.
“[The residents] are settling in well and are enjoying the opportunity to form friendships in their new home.”
