Construction underway at Catholic Homes Belmont

West Australian aged care provider Catholic Homes has kicked off construction of a 96-bed residential aged care home in Perth.

West Australian not-for-profit aged care provider Catholic Homes has commenced building a 96-bed residential aged care home in Belmont, seven kilometres east of Perth’s central business district.

The three-level residential aged care home includes a 16-bed memory support unit with an outdoor sensory gardens and courtyards on the ground level and a day therapy centre and garden for home care clients.

There are also 20-bed aged care wings across the first and second floors, a hairdressing salon, training and meeting rooms, large courtyards, balconies, a chapel and reflection space.

The new aged care home will enable the provider to deliver its person-centred approach Care with Purpose, which provides choice for residents, Catholic Homes said in a statement.

Catholic Homes chief executive Paul Andrew said the service aimed to provide affordable and accessible care options.

“The commencement of this modern residence is very exciting as Catholic Homes affirms its mission and vision to bring quality, compassionate, holistic personalised care, particularly for the most vulnerable individuals in our community,” Mr Andrew said.

The home will also offer smart televisions, Wi-Fi and use solar power.

T&Z Architects have designed the home while Perkins Builders is building it.

“The care and thought that has already gone into this design stands out and Perkins is proud to bring its proven aged care construction expertise to such an important project for Catholic Homes,” Mr Perkins said.

Catholic Homes plans to repurpose sawn timber from trees on site.

The home is expected to open in August 2023.
