There are some important conference deadlines creeping up soon, so if you are heading to any of these events below, time is running out. You’ll find the contact details to enquire about these events in the full list at the bottom of this news item:
- NSW HACC & Community Care Conference – Sydney 2-3 May; Sydney Convention Centre
- Aged & Community Services WA Conference 2011 in partnership with Alzheimer’s Australia WA, 12-13 May; Burswood, Perth
- Alzheimer’s Australia 14th National Conference 17-20 May; Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre

Paul Brophy from the Brotherhood of St Laurence is holding the Celebration of Life dance event at the Collingwood Town Hall in Melbourne tomorrow, to get the residents of 17 different aged care facilities together. See AAA’s full preview here.
Something else to keep in mind is the long lead time with some overseas events. There are a couple of Asian events coming up including the Retirement Living World China event mentioned above. Australian speakers include Kevin Ryan, Managing Director of Waterbrook Lifestyle Resorts and Kimberly Talbot, CEO of the Richmond Club & Hawkesbury Living. Click here for details.
Also, anyone considering heading to Washington DC in October for the IAHSA conference should be checking out dates and details now. Click here to go to the IAHSA conference website or see the full listing at the end of this news item.
If you want to value-add the experience, there is a US SAGE Tour heading that way too in October and dovetailing with the IAHSA event. The IAHSA tentative speaker line-up looks great and includes former Irish president, Mary Robinson.
Another reminder that registrations are still open for Alzheimer’s Australia NSW’s ‘new look’ ‘Memory Walk and Memory Jog fun run, to be held at Lilyfield in Sydney’s inner west on 15 May 2011. This year’s event has been moved to a new location at Leichhardt Oval #3, with the course to follow the well-known Bay Run. As well as 2km and 7km walks, participants who are up for more of a challenge can now take part in a 7km or 9km fun run. Individuals or teams are encouraged to seek sponsorship from family, friends and colleagues. For more information, to register or to sponsor a Memory Walker or Memory Jogger, click here.
