Fire tragedy at aged care home
A fire in an aged care facility in Sydney’s north-west this morning has been brought under control. Police are currently investigating the incident.
Specialist police are currently investigating the cause of a fire which broke out at an aged care facility in the Sydney suburb of Quakers Hill early this morning.
Police and emergency services were called to the facility at 5am and later located and evacuated 100 residents.
The fire was subsequently extinguished by fire fighters and emergency services then searched the premises.
About 20 residents have been conveyed to hospitals in the area with serious burns.
Police media confirm that “several people” died as a result of the fire.
