With support from the Port of Brisbane Corporation, Blue Care has launched a $60,000 wellness initiative for the city’s Bayside community.
The program is aimed at helping older people and people with disabilities stay in their own homes for longer.
The Port of Brisbane Corporation will sponsor Blue Care $20,000 a year over the next three years to fund the program.
It will also sponsor a Blue Care vehicle to support the organisation’s home care workers in Brisbane’s eastern region.
Blue Care Brisbane Regional Director Jon Campbell said the support came at a great time.
“The Corporation has supported Blue Care with car sponsorships in the past, but this extra funding will help us provide another much-needed community service at a time when health and wellbeing are the topic of conversation,” he said.
“We are delighted that Port of Brisbane Corporation has extended their association with us.”
The wellness will probably include quarterly expert health advice sessions for members of the community and wellness checks conducted by nurses at local aged care facilities.
It is based on a pilot trialled by another Blue Care centre in the Brisbane region.
