A major project nearing completion in Melbourne will see two new storeys added to a 1960s retirement complex.

The ambitious re-development of a retirement living complex in the Melbourne suburb of Carlton is nearing completion.

The $24 million upgrade of the Royal Freemasons’ Homes’ Redmond Park community – formerly known as Princes Hill Village – will see two new storeys added to the existing 1960s building.

The new complex will house 62 high quality one, two and three-bedroom apartments for seniors.

The development will focus on allowing older people to age in place, targeting younger retirees while also offering care services to people with greater needs.

It will offer panoramic views of Melbourne’s CBD and the Dandenongs as well as a comprehensive leisure and activities program.

The Royal Freemasons’ Homes Managing Director, Graham Shotter said this development would feed into his organisations other aged care activities.

“This milestone in our evolution in caring for the aged will contribute not only to the residents who benefit from the wonderful opportunities the development offers, it will also assist us over the long term to support our other community programs and residential aged care facilities,” he said.

“In addition to this outstanding accommodation, residents of Redmond Park will be able to enjoy real peace of mind knowing that it is owned and operated by the Royal Freemasons’ Homes of Victoria. Our friendly, professional and qualified staff will be on hand 24 hours a day 7 days a week to assist with any medical or other emergency.”
