Aged care and retirement living providers can apply for a $1,000 grant to host a fun digital skills event in their community through the Be Connected program.

The federally-funded Be Connected program aims to help people get online safely and confidently. It is managed by the Good Things Foundation, which is offering grants to community partners to host free digital skills events during Get Online Week in October.

The annual digital inclusion campaign, also organised by Good Things Foundation, takes place on 16-22 October 2023. The Get Online Week grants can help organisations cover the costs of marketing and promoting the event, staffing, catering or internet fees. Applications close on 4 August 2023.

The Be Connected Network is made up of over 3,000 community partners including aged care and retirement living services, libraries, Men’s Sheds and community centres facilitating a range of programs including the previously featured Be Connected Young Mentors initiative.

Partners have access to free interactive training tools and resources to support people wanting to learn digital skills. Partners can also apply for funding including Building Digital Skills grants to help deliver free Be Connected digital literacy programs to older Australians in their community.

Applications for the current round, also closing on 4 August 2023, are available in $2,500, $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 contract sizes.

Good Things Foundation has upcoming webinars on Be Connected initiatives and applying for grants.
