Head for the hills

Work is coming along well on Masonic Homes’ iconic $10 million, 24-apartment retirement living complex in the Adelaide Hills.

The halfway point has been passed in the construction of Masonic Homes’ Hillside Gardens (pictured) retirement living complex in the Adelaide Hills.

Most of the exterior has been completed on the $10 million development which will house 24 apartments — a quarter of which have already been sold off the plan.

More than 60 people are currently employed in the construction process and the Heathfield site is on track to receive its first residents by the middle of the year.

“The apartment building is one of the largest residential buildings ever constructed in the Adelaide Hills,” said Masonic’s General Manager for Retirement Living, Bryan Moulds.

“When finished, its design, the way it blends into the site’s unique landscape and its features for retirement living, will make it a new landmark for the Hills.”

The Heathfield complex is part of Masonic’s $200 million Seniors Living Community expansion program and will be one of the most significant developments in the Hills region.

“It is an exciting time for Masonic Homes as Hillside Gardens is being developed as a result of our market research identifying a strong local need and demand for new and varied independent living options for retirees,” said Mr Moulds.

The new complex is located next door to Masonic’s existing Hillside Lodge residential care facility and in future, its residents will be able to gain access to Masonic’s community care programs.

The complex will include lift access as well as activity rooms and under croft parking, views over the site’s gardens, walking tracks and water feature areas.
