Hopkins moves to new role
The Stewart Brown Partner will move to corporate services role with a church group in NSW.
After 13 years and many more aged care financial performance surveys at Sydney accounting firm Stewart Brown, Max Hopkins has announced that he will be taking up a new position at Churches of Christ in NSW.
Mr Hopkins began working for the firm’s aged care division just as the Howard Government’s Aged Care Act was coming into effect.
“Since then, the dependency and needs of residents have changed significantly and there has been a large boost to community care services,” he told Australian Ageing Agenda.
“The landscape has changed – the number of providers has been reduced but perhaps not as much as expected.
“The increasing use of information technology has significantly changed how aged care is done. There are now more efficient and better systems and although there is still a long way to go, there has been a big impact on the business and clinical side of operations.”
One of the firm’s partners Grant Corderoy, praised Mr Hopkins with growing the firm’s aged care client base, particularly among non-profit providers.
“We have a long history of involvement within the not-for-profit sector, and in particular those organisations associated with church and community groups,” he said.
Mr Hopkins will take up his new role as the Director of Corporate Services for Churches of Christ in NSW in January.
The church group operates aged care services throughout the state under the LivingCare brand.
“This is a step of faith for me as I seek to follow God’s will,” Mr Hopkins said in an email to industry colleagues.
“I feel really blessed to have the opportunity to combine my professional career with the ministry of my church, and I am very excited about this new chapter in my journey.”
