South Sydney aged care provider Ibis Care has partnered with the Women’s Resilience Centre to better support its female workforce.

The Women’s Resilience Centre is a national service dedicated to helping women move forward from domestic abuse and trauma through holistic, long-term recovery support, offering programs to help support people with their work, finances, parenting, relationships, connection, stress reduction and resilience.

On 30 October Ibis Care will host a community fundraiser fashion parade at its Blakehurst home to support the centre.

Staff and residents will participate in the fundraiser by showcasing the Recycled Fashion Wardrobe – an Ibis Care sustainability initiative launched in May – while residents, their supporters, family and friends will attend and donate a gold coin at entry.

Chief executive officer of the for-profit provider James Carter said they will match the donations received at the Fashion Parade up to $1,000.

He said that in an industry with mostly female staff, it is important to support them as people and not just as staff.

“The challenges that women may face in the community are not isolated to their lives outside of work. We understand the impact that these issues can have in their working life,” he said.

Mr Carter said programs offered by the WRC, such as the Free Recovery Program and the Mentoring Program, are great supports for women who may need it.

Ibis Care employee programs also include a 24/7 wellbeing and mental health support service provided by AccessEAP.

“We know that the better we can support our workforce, the better they can support residents,” Mr Carter added.

Ibis Care also joined the WRC last month as a Silver Sponsor at its Cirque du Joy – Reset the Dial 2025 fundraising event at Luna Park’s Big Top.
