IRT relocates HQ as part of growth plan

Retirement living and aged care provider, IRT, will move the organisation’s headquarters to central Wollongong this week, further paving the way for future growth.

One of Australia’s largest, not-for-profit aged care providers, IRT will relocate its corporate services office to AHM’s Market Street building in central Wollongong this week, as part of the organisation’s three-year growth plan.

IRT’s move and growth plan signals the delivery of more local aged care jobs and the likelihood of improved services in the future.

Chief Executive Nieves Murray said that the organisation had “more than quadrupled in size, outgrowing the capacity of [the building in Woonona] to provide services as effectively as we’d like.”

“We’re excited about our growth plans and our Wollongong relocation but even more so about the positive contributions we aim to continue to make to our ageing society, whether in one of our seniors’ living facilities, the family home or our services for homeless seniors because we believe older people deserve the best.”

NSW Minister for State and Regional Development Ian Macdonald MLC said the state government was pleased to financially support the relocation.

“The Illawarra Advantage Fund was established for this very reason, to support the sound growth plans of local companies that contribute to the local economy through jobs and contributions to local businesses,” Minister Macdonald said.

“This is very much the case with IRT, which has grown exponentially during its first 40 years to provide products and services to almost 5000 older Australians – with 30 villages now stretching throughout their Illawarra heartland to Sydney, the South Coast and the ACT.

IRT had occupied its previous premises at Woonona Bulli Sports & Soccer Club’s since 1982. The organisation provides care and accommodation to 4,500 older Australians and operates throughout Sydney, ACT, Illawarra and the South Coast of NSW.
