Karingal’s long term viability secured by merger

A merger has been announced between Tasmanian based Karingal Care Services and Victoria’s Baptcare.

DEVONPORT’s Karingal Care Services has announced its intended merger with Victorian aged care provider Baptcare.
Karingal board chairman Ron Dell said joining with Baptcare would help ensure the aged care facility and respite
centre’s long-term security. Currently with more than 120 residents at its facility, Karingal also operates the
Orana Respite and Day Care Centre at East Devonport.

“The merger will mean extra resources in the areas of learning, development and people services.” said Mr Dell
“All of which are difficult for a small organisation such as Karingal to achieve on its own.”

Mr Dell also said Baptcare was examining the possibility of maintaining the existing workforce and would look at an increase in financial resources to achieve this. It is hoped the merger will be completed by the end of the financial year.
