My Guardian sets world record for centenarian gathering
My Guardian and the NSW Parliament have collaborated on a record-breaking centenarian lunch, with 150 people aged 100 and above gathering at the state’s Parliament House.
Days before Australia ushers in once-in-a-generation aged care reforms, the country has broken the Guinness World Records title for the largest gathering of centenarians.
Organised by aged care provider My Guardian in collaboration with the NSW Government, the event was a celebration of Australia’s oldest living citizens, and the 150 attendees included veterans, Holocaust survivors, pioneering migrants, educators, entrepreneurs, parents and everyday heroes.
Federal, state and community leaders were also in attendance to honour the over 10,000 combined years of lived experience.

My Guardian founder and chief executive officer Jad Haber said they are “immensely proud” of their centenarians and are delighted to honour them on the world stage.

“They’ve lived through the most extraordinary century in human history – witnessing everything from the Great Depression to the digital revolution. Today is more than a record; it’s a call to action for all Australians to recognise and celebrate our elders as the living pillars of our nation,” he said.
“What we’ve achieved here today isn’t just history — it’s humanity,” Mr Haber said. “This is proof that when a country comes together with heart and purpose, we can move mountains – or in this case, break a Guinness World Records title.”
The Centenarians’ Lunch at NSW Parliament House also coincided with Grandparents Week.
NSW Minister for Seniors Jodie Harrison was also among the attendees, saying: “Today’s gathering is a powerful reminder of the strength, resilience, and wisdom of our oldest Australians, many of whom have shaped the very fabric of our communities. NSW Parliament is proud to host such a historic occasion to honour those who have given so much across generations. I commend everyone involved in creating this extraordinary moment of recognition and unity, and for championing the dignity and rights of older people across NSW.”

Such a wonderful celebration of such stoic older men and women. Coincidentally my father is also having his 100th birthday this Sunday 26th October 2025. A proud veteran of WW2 who returned from Bougaineville upon the death of his father. My father then worked at the Registrar General’s department for more than 40 years while assisting his mother raise his 5 younger brothers and sisters.
He has instilled the value of good health , education and sport to each of his 4 children. Our family is celebrating this momentous occasion on his birthday this weekend. Thank you for organising the Sydney event today to recognise and honour so many lives well lived !
