New CEO for SCC
The new leader for not-for-profit service provider Southern Cross Care WA has this week begun work in the top job.
Southern Cross Care WA’s new CEO, Errol Turner
A new CEO has taken over the helm at not-for-profit service provider Southern Cross Care WA (SCC) as of this week.
Errol Turner, who has been with SCC since 2008 as the deputy CEO and the Chief Financial Officer before that, has replaced Stuart Flynn who has stepped down after 15 years service to go into partial retirement.
SCC Chairman John Bryant said Mr Turner was appointed following a rigorous selection process.
“The Board is confident that it has selected a CEO with a superior track record of organisational leadership and experience,” Mr Bryant said.
“We look forward to his efforts to ensure SCC achieves its long-term strategic goals in a legislatively changing environment.”
Mr Turner said providing high quality aged care to Western Australians was a privilege and that he is honoured to be able to build on the organisation’s rich heritage and legacy.
“I’m grateful the board’s succession process will enable me over the next few weeks, together with Stuart, to meet with and listen to our people across WA who all contribute to enhancing the quality of life of those we support.”
Mr Turner and Mr Flynn will work side by side until mid July to ensure a smooth transition.
Mr Bryant acknowledged the outstanding contribution Mr Flynn has made to the organisation.
“The Directors of SCC wish to thank Stuart for his leadership over the last 15 years.
“Stuart has been instrumental in SCC’s growth and diversification, successfully meeting the Board’s commercial and community investment objectives and ensuring that the organisation continues to serve the whole community including the marginalised and disadvantaged,” he said.
“He leaves SCC in a strong position of continued growth and we wish him all the best in his retirement.”
Making the decision to retire after 15 years with the company was difficult, Mr Flynn said.
“I’m proud of what we have achieved as an organisation and I’m confident it will continue to thrive in the future. I plan to remain active in the industry but on a more part-time, consultative basis”
As CEO of Southern Cross Care WA, Mr Turner will be responsible for overseeing the organisation and its provision of residential and community care, seniors’ housing, contract management and consulting, and the managing over 1,000 people across the state.
SCC WA was established in 1966 and provides care, support and accommodation to over 3,000 Western Australians.
It owns and operates 10 residential aged care facilities, nine retirement villages, home care services, services to those with a mental illness, six day/overnight respite centres, three community options houses for mental health services, and a consultancy/management service.
We wish Errol Turner all the best in his new role as CEO of Southern Cross Care WA
Congratulations Errol on your appointment – we look forward to working with you. Also congratulations to Stuart for his substantial success and contribution not only to SCC but also to the industry more broadly.
