New vision for Victorian provider
Client choice and advocacy are at the centre of Benetas’s new strategic direction.
Victorian provider, Benetas will launch a new strategic direction at its annual general meeting tomorrow.
The group’s new vision will focus on client choice with a particular emphasis on accommodating the needs of people who speak other languages and those who have dementia.
“It’s all about a holistic approach and continuity of care for older Victorians, whether it is at home or in purpose-built residential facilities,” said the organisation’s CEO Sandra Hills.
“And that means keeping people connected with their families and communities of their choice according to their individual preferences, all of which will support a positive ageing experience in later life.”
The new strategic direction reflects the organisation’s desire to be a strong voice for disadvantaged older Australians.
At the same time, Benetas is stepping up its involvement in research activity. It has commissioned Deakin University to conduct an in-depth study on ‘respect in an ageing society’ and the results will be released soon.
Future research projects will look at consumer and family expectations of care.
“That said, if we can’t deliver exactly what our clients wish for, through embracing new technologies such as Skype, or by using traditional methods of support, then Benetas will facilitate client needs through partnerships with other agencies or community support services,” said Ms Hills.
The new strategic direction also embraces environmentally sustainable design in aged care.
