‘Above and beyond’

PHOTO GALLERY: Rob Hankins, chief executive of ECH and a former president of the board of Aged & Community Services Australia (ACSA), has won the individual award at the 2014 ACSA National Aged Care Awards.

Twenty-seven individuals and organisations from all over Australia, who have made outstanding contributions to aged care, were finalists. The awards were held on Sunday night ahead of ACSA’s National Conference.

Adjunct Professor John Kelly, CEO of ACSA, said the awards celebrated all the good that is done in caring for some of Australia’s most vulnerable people, the frail elderly.

“Those of us in the aged care sector know how much dedication and care is delivered every day and tonight we honour our colleagues who have gone above and beyond to be recognised as the best of the best. All of our finalists are already winners, having received their state’s highest accolades,” said Professor Kelly.

The awards were judged by Heath Shonhan from Bentleys, Karen Martin from Aged Care Channel, Kerry Lehman from Brand Partners and Christopher Baynes from Do Come Monday.

This year’s winners were:

Employee: Lisa Kipping, Catholic Homes, Victoria

Volunteer: Joan Muhling, City of Subiaco, Western Australia

Trainee: Cale Swift, Baptistcare, Western Australia

Organisation: Feros Care, NSW/ACT

Individual: Rob Hankins, ECH, SA/NT
